The Menninger Clinic’s is a state-of-the-art psychiatric hospital located on 50 acres near Houston’s Texas Medical Center. One of the nation’s leading psychiatric hospitals, Menninger built the new hospital to support and accelerate future advancements in mental health treatment, prevention and leading-edge research. Inspired by Frank Lloyd Wright design principles, the prairie-style hospital campus features low-slung roofs and residential-scale buildings that don’t look institutional and total 161,000 square feet. Expanding on the Frank Lloyd Wright inspired prairie theme, D|G created two donor walls that are an artistic combination of the stain glass pieces of Frank Lloyd Wright allowing for a patchwork quilt effect. The donor walls are located in two areas. One was dedicated to the donors and sponsors of the facility and the other recognized the contributions of Menninger employees. A third piece of the system was to recognize major individual donors who were honored by individual plaques throughout the facility. These are not really plaques, but considered a piece of artwork and are fabricated in the same technique as the donor walls.
