Looking for a significant way to honor the park's centennial, the Hermann Park Conservancy committed to creating gardens that would be later be dedicated as The McGovern Centennial Gardens. New amenities include an interactive family garden, an arid garden, a pine walk, a woodland garden, and a spectacular 30-foot high garden mount, complete with a spiral trail to its summit. The 8,000 square foot Cherie Flores Garden Pavilion anchors the site and is made of glass with an angled, open central wall of dark granite and a ceiling of glowing stainless steel that reflects the colors of sky, earth and water. Visitors can see it all that the Gardens have to offer at the top of a spectacular 30-foot high garden mount, complete with a spiral trail to the summit. The McGovern Centennial Gardens opened to the public on December 22, 2014. D|G expanded upon the signage program initially developed for Hermann Park into the new McGovern Centennial Gardens, as well as a refined donor system to match, enhanced, and integrate with the gardens landscape architectural intent.
