John Hopkins Hospital stands as one of the nation's top healthcare institutions; its history extends over a century. D|G Studios worked with NIH to design thematic signage and wayfinding systems for two parking garages on their campus. One garage is a seven level structure with "smart pay" technology. The system is based on sea animals with a different animal assigned to each level along with its own color-coding system. The image and colors were applied to overhead directionals, elevator lobby graphics and other level designation treatments. The other garage also incorporates a similar thematic system to aid in orientation and reflects recognized symbols of the state of Maryland such as the state bird and flower.
